In this third installment of #VOLUNTEER WEEK celebrations we’re highlighting some of the outstanding work that our shedders have been up to since #VOLUNTEER WEEK 2019.
The first project we need to highlight has to be the conversion of a Double Decker Bus!
The shedders working with Caldicotes Primary School in MIddlesbrough completely transformed a Double Decker Bus in to a learning environment for the pupils, most people would be struck with fear at the thought of taking on such a huge project.
Not our shedders though!
They were overwhelmed with joy and excitement and seized the opportunity to be a part of this.
Creating something that not only benefits the community but will continue to do so for next few years or more holds a special soft spot in their hearts.
The shedders contribute a lot of time helping other organisations within the borough but they also contribute a great deal to FRADE.
From upcycling and creating bespoke furniture for us to sell in our stores the work and commitment from these individuals is second to none and we couldn’t be prouder that they choose to be a part of our Men’s Shed.
We’re so proud of them and the work they produce we’ve procured a retail outlet for them to display and sell the fruits of their labor on to the public.
This outlet used to be a pet shop based next door to our Marton road store where the Men’s Shed is based.
The shedders set to work renovating the inside of the store with a fresh lick of Paint and even adding some quirky elements like chairs on the walls to be used as shelves.
This store had a soft opening back in March to congratulate the shedders on what they collectively achieved and you can look forward to shopping with them soon.
From everyone at FRADE and the Board of Directors we’d like to say a massive THANK YOU and we can’t wait to see what you do this year.
