How it all began

Ageing Better Middlesbrough approached us because they wanted a place where men could go to socialise, learn new skills and get involved with carpentry, furniture restoration and painting! The aim is to get men out of the house and mixing with people that share the same interests. No one should be stuck at home feeling lonely and socially excluded. Ageing Better thought we would make the perfect partner.

Naturally we loved the idea and with their help we cleared a large storage area at the rear of our Marton Road shop and employed a sessional worker who was already a volunteer at the store.

What we do

Upcycle/repairs

Making old stuff new again

We take broken items of furniture and restore them to their original function. If this is not possible then we may turn them in to something new!
Woodwork

We've got wood

We use the wood we have salvaged to create saleable items to allow our shed to remain open. Things like bird boxes and display cabinets or even shop signs.
Upholstery

We love fabric!

We use it to add some finishing touches to our handy-work, be that re-upholstering dining chairs or adding some comfort to a blanket box we just created.
Painting

The finishing touches

We make old stuff look new again. Sometimes they only need a lick of paint, a coat of wax or maybe just a good old rub down with some sand paper.

Do you want to get involved?

DO
you feel isolated?
DO
you miss regular interaction with like minded people?

If you answer yes to any or all of these then our Men’s Shed project is for you!

We run for three hours a day, Monday to Friday, 10am. until 1pm.
